/welcome. It shows one step at a time, with Back, Skip and Next, a progress ring (“2 of 6 done”) and the list of steps under the card.
Every step is worked out from what’s actually set up, not from what you clicked. Doing the same thing in Settings, on the Knowledge page or with the jun CLI ticks it off too. The page refreshes every few seconds, so a crawl or a first install that finishes in the background shows up on its own.
The steps
/welcome opens on the first step that isn’t done. Each step has its own address (/welcome/knowledge, /welcome/ai and so on), so ticking one off doesn’t jump the page ahead while you read.
1. Create your account
Done by the time you see the page. It reminds you to keep your setup token safe: it’s how you get back in if you lose every passkey. See First sign-in.2. Add your docs
Paste your help center or docs site URL and press Add website. The desk reads its sitemap, crawls the pages in the background and re-syncs daily. Crawling takes a minute or two; the step ticks off once pages are indexed. Files (PDF, DOCX, Markdown, text) and snippets are on the Knowledge page. See Knowledge.3. Set up the AI assistant
Choose where replies come from, then press Turn on the AI:- Workers AI: built in, runs on your Cloudflare account, no key needed.
- OpenAI: your own API key. Add it as the
OPENAI_API_KEYsecret (in Cloudflare, open the Worker → Settings → Variables and Secrets, or runnpx wrangler secret put OPENAI_API_KEY), then reload the page. - ChatGPT sign-in: replies use your own ChatGPT plan. It’s listed first and preselected while it’s offered, and signing in turns the AI on without a second click.
4. Make the widget yours
Pick a colour and press Use this colour. Logo, greeting, mode and the chat window’s side are on the Chat widget page; business hours are in Settings → Inbox. See Appearance.5. Put it on your site
The step shows your snippet with a Copy button:<head>, before your own scripts. The step ticks itself off the first time the loader connects from an origin other than the desk itself, and then shows “Seen on https://…”. The desk’s own demo page doesn’t count.
If your site is a staging site, or nobody has loaded it yet, press I’ve added it. That marks the step done and moves to the next one. The demo page link opens /demo.html?key=wk_… on your desk so you can try the widget straight away.
Allowed websites and identity settings are on the Chat widget → Behaviour tab. See Install the widget.
6. Invite your team
Press Create an invite link. You get a link to send to one teammate; it works once, for 7 days, and makes them an agent. To invite an admin, or to manage people and roles, use Settings → Team. See Team. The last step’s button is Go to the inbox.Leaving and coming back
Leaving Get started never hides it. The link under the steps says Go to the inbox, finish later from the sidebar (or All set, go to the inbox when everything is done). Until every step is done, owners and admins see a Getting started card at the bottom of the sidebar:- the percentage done,
- each step with a blue tick when done, or a ring of dots while it’s open,
- a tile for the next open step, such as Add your docs or Copy the snippet,
- an × to hide the card.
/welcome. Agents never see the card.
